Ashland, NH Shooting: Officer Wounded, Suspect Killed During Traffic Stop

ASHLAND, N.H. — Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred during a traffic stop on Main Street in Ashland, New Hampshire, on Monday evening.

According to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, officers with the Ashland Police Department pulled over a vehicle when the driver reportedly produced a firearm and opened fire on police. An exchange of gunfire followed, leaving one officer wounded and the suspect dead at the scene.

Officials said the injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while no other civilians or law enforcement personnel were reported injured.

The identity of the suspect and the officer involved has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin and further investigation. State police and the Attorney General’s Office are leading the ongoing review of the incident.

Authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation continues into what led to the deadly confrontation.
