I’sis Garza Obituary, Death: 22-Year-Old Victim Identified in Fatal Odessa Apartment Shooting

A tragic shooting in Odessa, Texas, has claimed the life of 22-year-old I’sis Garza, leaving the community in shock and mourning as authorities continue their investigation into the deadly incident.

According to the Odessa Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 21, 2026, to reports of a gunshot victim at the High Plains Apartments on Andrews Highway. When officers arrived, they found Garza unresponsive at the scene. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, including CPR, she was pronounced dead at the location.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect, 22-year-old David Dewayne Horn Jr., who allegedly fled the scene in a Dodge Charger. Police later located and detained him following a traffic stop on Grant Avenue. Authorities say Horn admitted during questioning that he shot Garza following an argument. He also identified her as his common-law wife.

Horn has been charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and was booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center, where he remains in custody as the case moves forward.

The Odessa Police Department confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing as detectives continue gathering evidence surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
